Rebecca Bauer-Kahan has built a career at the intersection of law, technology, and public policy, bringing a thoughtful and solutions-oriented approach to the California State Assembly. Since taking office in 2018, she has emerged as a leader on issues ranging from consumer privacy and reproductive rights to environmental protection.
As an environmental attorney and Chair of the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee, Rebecca has made protecting our environment a top priority. Her determination to protect our environment and battle climate change is informed by her background as an environmental lawyer and her passion for solving problems. In the legislature, Rebecca has introduced AB 2356 / AB 2083 the Utility Accountability and Wildfire Prevention Act and made utility companies pay for fires they cause. In addition, she worked to limit plastic use with AB 2236 which helped close the loophole that allowed plastic grocery bags, ensuring all carryout bags will be paper or reusable.
Rebecca understands that the climate crisis demands both urgency and innovation. She is committed to advancing policies that not only reduce carbon emissions but also promote environmental justice and economic resilience.
Climate Action California believes that Rebecca’s policy expertise, forward-thinking leadership, and commitment to equitable climate solutions make her an invaluable advocate for California’s future. That is why we are pleased to endorse Rebecca for State Assembly.
