SD 38: Catherine Blakespear

Catherine Blakespear

“California is the Golden State because of our glittering coastline, clean air, and green and rolling open spaces. It’s been my mission in public service to accelerate our transition to clean energy, fight climate change, and safeguard our natural resources for generations to come. Why? Because protecting families means protecting the planet. It’s essential to our health, economy, and way of life.”

These words are exactly why Climate Action California is proud to endorse Senator Catherine Blakespear for re-election.

Sen. Blakespear’s career as a climate champion began during her time as Mayor of Encinitas, when she made it the first city in the county to deliver 100% renewable power and passed a tough climate action plan to reduce emissions. When she was elected to the California Senate in 2022, she showed the same enthusiasm for advancing climate initiatives statewide.

So far, Sen. Blakespear has authored 24 bills that have been passed by the Legislature and signed into law by the Governor. They include environmental legislation that bans plastic bags from being provided at grocery store checkouts (SB 1053), ensuring that public transportation is climate-resilient (SB 677), and green energy legislation to preserve solar tax incentives (SB 710).

As one of Sacramento’s most outspoken champions of science-based climate solutions, Catherine has earned an eager endorsement from Climate Action California.
