Due to term limits, 2027-2028 will be Assembly Member Marc Berman’s final term in the legislature. Since his election in 2016, Asm Berman has had one of the highest rates of success in the Legislature, having sent 107 bills to the Governor in his first nine years in office — with 101 bills signed into law. Among those was the landmark bill AB 1346 (2021), which made California the first state in the nation to ban the sale of gas-powered leaf blowers and lawnmowers. He also authored AB 733 (2017), which provided a powerful financial tool to communities facing the impacts of climate disasters.
This year he has authored AB 2313, which would require fossil gas utilities to offer customers whose gas service needs repair or reconstruction an alternative — in the form of a generous financial incentive to purchase electric appliances instead. Passing this bill is a very high priority for Climate Action California.
Climate Action California believes that Marc’s track record as an effective legislator who prioritizes the health of all Californians speaks for itself. We hope he will continue to champion impactful climate bills in the next legislative session.
