AD 55: Isaac Bryan

Isaac Bryan

Assembly Member Isaac Bryan was elected to represent AD 55 in a special election in May 2021, at the age of 29. By then he had already founded the UCLA Black Policy Project and served as the first Director of Public Policy at UCLA’s Ralph J. Bunche Center. In the Assembly he has served as Majority Leader and chair of the Natural Resources Committee.

Assemblymember Bryan secured funding for the first Climate Change Education Center in the California Community College system at West LA College. He also introduced vital climate legislation with a focus on environmental justice and the interests of the most vulnerable Californians.

For example, AB 2716 triggered the phasing out of the Inglewood Oil Field and established a community repair fund to benefit the surrounding community. And his win with AB 2684 now requires cities and counties to more effectively plan for extreme heat days – a growing hazard as the climate changes. And this year, he has turned his attention to another equally important concern: extending the Displaced Oil and Gas Worker Pilot Program which aims to help fossil fuel workers affected by layoffs find new employment.

Climate Action California believes that Assemblymember Isaac Bryan has already made an invaluable impact mitigating climate change and promoting climate justice, and we are excited to endorse him for re-election.
