As chair of the Utilities and Energy committee, Assemblymember Cottie-Petrie Norris has had an outsized role in promoting science-based climate solutions, particularly when it comes to energy. And it’s fitting that CAC is throwing its weight behind her recent landmark bill AB 2516, which will create a clear, streamlined process to grow California’s clean energy manufacturing capabilities.
Assemblymember Petrie-Norris has been vocal about how important it is for California to achieve its climate goals. But she also knows how crucial affordability is to that plan. Which is why she’s authored numerous bills such as AB 854 (which would have streamlined transmission upgrades) designed to improve the grid and bring down costs for ratepayers.
Her efforts to stop climate change extend far beyond electricity, though. She also wrote AB 65 (which became law) to protect our coast from the threat of sea level rise, and is currently fighting to protect California’s clean air standards and carbon emissions regulations under threat by the Trump administration.
Since being elected to the legislature in 2018, Assemblymember Petrie-Norris has consistently been a strong and well-informed voice for smart climate solutions, and Climate Action California is pleased to endorse her for re-election.
