Sergio Farias is a three-term councilmember, former mayor, business owner, family man, and local climate leader. First elected to the San Juan Capistrano city council in 2016, he has used his position to improve public safety, infrastructure improvements, neighborhood beautification, climate resiliency, and transparency.
Wildfires are a constant threat in South Orange, which is why Councilmember Farias supports targeted investments in wildfire prevention and neighborhood hardening. And if elected, Farias says that he will prioritize climate resilience, water sustainability, and infrastructure improvements (such as rooftop solar and energy-efficient retrofits) that lower emissions and bring down the cost of living for his constituents.
His approach will focus on practical, implementable plans with measurable outcomes – which is in line with CAC’s mission of advancing practical science-based solutions to the climate crisis. He knows that any effective climate solution must produce visible, local benefits to the community that implements it. For these reasons, Climate Action California is proud to endorse Councilmember Farias for election to the Assembly.
