AD 51: Rick Chavez Zbur

Rick Chavez Zbur

Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur fought urgently to address climate change when he was an environmental lawyer and 20-year board member of the California League of Conservation Voters, now renamed California Environmental Voters (which he was President of for six years.) He has also prioritized environmental justice for vulnerable communities hit hardest by pollution, and advanced sustainable housing and green job programs.

After his election to the Assembly in 2022, Zbur formed the Assembly District 51 Climate Action Advisory Committee, bringing together electeds and activists to work on climate change and environmental issues. Many of his bills were signed into law, including landmark legislation to promote electrification like AB 39, which requires every city and county to draft a plan for transitioning to renewable energy. More recently, AB 2383, will force large energy users like data centers to pay their fair share and not drive up rates for ordinary Californians.

Assemblymember Zbur believes that the crisis of climate change demands urgent action, and has worked tirelessly to promote clean energy and water conservation, sustainable and affordable housing, new renewable technologies, and environmental education. Climate Action California is thrilled to endorse Assemblymember Zbur based on his consistently strong leadership on clean energy, climate, and environmental justice initiatives.
