SD 27: Henry Stern

Henry Stern

As an environmental attorney, Henry Stern advocated for climate and environmental issues before arriving in the legislature and continues to do so today. He currently serves as Chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Climate Change Policies where he will continue to advocate for addressing climate change and protecting vulnerable communities.

For four years, in his role as a senior policy advisor to Senator Pavley, Henry wrote state climate legislation before joining the California State Senate in 2016. He led efforts to close down Aliso Canyon Gas Storage Facility and pursued increasing corporate disclosure requirements with Senator Wiener through the climate accountability legislation which passed and was signed into law by Governor Newsom in 2023.

Climate Action California believes that Senator Stern’s efforts to address climate change and ensure environmental justice in the Senate have demonstrated his dedication to the cause. In his current position as Chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Climate Change Policies, we look forward to his continued advocacy.
