Since being elected to the State Senate in 2022, Steve Padilla has dedicated himself to being a climate leader in Sacramento. Over the past 4 years, he has authored many ambitious bills aimed at accelerating the clean energy transition while protecting the health (and wallets) of his constituents. For example, SB 886 and SB 887 are two powerful bills he introduced this year to protect California ratepayers from the potential increased costs and environmental damage caused by data centers.
Sen. Padilla has also championed bills that were signed into law which protect workers affected by climate change (SB 1105), and take steps to modernize our electrical grid (SB 619).
In his own words, “We cannot rely on the grid of our grandparents to power the future of our grandchildren. We can create all of the clean energy we want, but we need a grid capable of getting clean power to consumers.”
